Baseball Recap: Ravenna Ravens vs. Rittman Indians

Ravenna fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Rittman on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rittman Indians by a score of 8-7. Ravenna has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Logan Hysell was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Hysell has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Hysell was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Connor Welling and James Evavns stepped up to the plate in a big way. Welling scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances, while Evavns got on base in three of his four plate appearances with a stolen base and two RBI.

Ravenna's loss dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Rittman, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11.

Ravenna will take on Rootstown at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Rittman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
