Volleyball Recap: Anthony Wayne Starts off Right with Win over Napoleon

Anthony Wayne gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Napoleon Wildcats as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Generals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

One reason for the win was Anthony Wayne's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-7, 25-5.

Anthony Wayne was led to victory by Alayna Rieger and Jessie Kennelly. Rieger had 13 assists and four aces, while Kennelly had 13 digs and five assists. Those five assists gave Kennelly a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Anthony Wayne was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 22 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Napoleon fell to 2-1.

Anthony Wayne has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Clay on the 21st. As for Napoleon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Perrysburg on the 20th.
