Basketball Recap: Molly Richards Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Shawe Memorial

Providence won the last time they faced Shawe Memorial and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Providence Pioneers came out on top against the Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers by a score of 48-38. That's two games straight that the Pioneers have won by exactly ten points.

Providence's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Molly Richards, who went 5 of 11 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds. Those 16 points gave Richards a new career-high. Kamden Pierce was another key player, putting up 15 points and five steals.

Providence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Providence has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season. As for Shawe Memorial, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.

Providence wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-33 defeat against Floyd Central on the 30th. As for Shawe Memorial, they have also already played their next game, a 74-35 victory against Rising Sun on the 30th.
