Baseball Recap: Ridgemont Golden Gophers vs. Crestline Bulldogs
Ridgemont had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 10-9 to make it four. They came up short against the Crestline Bulldogs, falling 10-4. The Golden Gophers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.
Brenden Eckstein and Kody Kiser stepped up to the plate in a big way. Eckstein got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, while Kiser got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
As for Crestline, their record is now 6-14. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.
On Crestline's side, Weston Clark made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave Clark a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Crestline's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 3-13 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Crestline got a massive performance out of Auston Henson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The Bulldogs are 3-1 when Henson posts three or more hits, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brendon Ronk, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Coming up, Ridgemont will challenge Upper Scioto Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Crestline, they will face off against Ridgedale at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
