Baseball Recap: Viewmont Vikings vs. Roy Royals

Viewmont put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Roy Royals a 16-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for Viewmont, as the team was forced to settle for a 6-5 defeat when these two played last Wednesday.

Cal Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last three games he's played.

In other pitching news, Jack Owen looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.

Back at the plate, Elias Culley was incredible, going 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Hooper, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Viewmont's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-5. As for Roy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-19.
