Basketball Game Preview: Green Hill Hawks vs. Hendersonville Commandos

The Green Hill Hawks will square off against the Hendersonville Commandos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Hendersonville will be up against a hot Green Hill squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Green Hill walked away with a 60-47 win over Station Camp on Tuesday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Bison are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Green Hill's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kataira Tolbert, who went 8 for 9 on her way to 18 points and seven rebounds, and Sullie Gerik, who went 7 of 10 en route to 15 points along with six assists and three steals. That's the most assists Gerik has posted since back in January of 2024. Willa Heilman was another key player, putting up four points in addition to six assists and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Green Hill was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hendersonville had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Gallatin 62-15 on Tuesday. The game marked the Commandos' most dominant victory of the season.

Hendersonville's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-9. As for Green Hill, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8.

Green Hill strolled past Hendersonville when the teams last played on January 14th by a score of 42-26. Will Green Hill repeat their success, or does Hendersonville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
