Baseball Game Preview: Kasson-Mantorville Komets vs. Cannon Falls Bombers

The Kasson-Mantorville Komets will head out on the road to challenge the Cannon Falls Bombers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Kasson-Mantorville is headed out to face Cannon Falls after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Komets won by a run and slipped past Byron 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Quinn Weis tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooks Irish, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Sam Graunke was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Cannon Falls owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They came out on top against Lourdes by a score of 3-0. The Bombers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Kasson-Mantorville skirted past Cannon Falls 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Komets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
