Softball Recap: Champion Picks Up 13th Straight Win on the Road

Champion strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Garfield G-Men. The Golden Flashes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the G-Men, too.

Gabrielle Gradishar made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Champion got a big performance out of Sam Strock, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Taylor Rouan was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Champion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Champion pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Garfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Champion will have a chance to go back-to-back against Garfield: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
