Basketball Recap: Jayda Cornes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tri over Winchester Community

After flying high against Centerville last Thursday, Tri came back down to earth. The Tri Titans fell just short of the Winchester Community Golden Falcons by a score of 56-54 on Saturday. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Tri's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayda Cornes, who posted 13 points and eight steals. Cornes has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nakaya Cridge, who scored four points along with ten boards, five steals, and five blocks.

Tri's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Winchester Community, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Tri has already played their next contest, a 64-54 victory against Eastern Hancock on the 30th. As for Winchester Community, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-30 loss against Northeastern on the 29th.
