Soccer Recap: Greenwood Beats Woodmont for Their Second Straight Win

Greenwood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Woodmont, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Greenwood Eagles' defense stepped up to hand the Woodmont Wildcats an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-goal performance the match before.

The victory made it two in a row for Greenwood and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two contests. As for Woodmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenwood will challenge Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hillcrest will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Greenwood surely won't give up without a fight. As for Woodmont, they will face off against Easley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodmont has given up an average of 2.8 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.
