Softball Recap: San Elizario's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

San Elizario entered their tilt with Mountain View on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lobos a 16-0 shutout. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 9-1 victory two weeks ago.

The team relied heavily on Vivian Salcedo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caylee Venegas, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

San Elizario was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in eight consecutive matches.

San Elizario's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-17-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 4-17 Fabens and 5-15 Clint (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 26.6% over those games). As for Mountain View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
