Recap: Holdrege Dusters vs. Valentine
The Holdrege Dusters scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 69-43 margin over Valentine. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Holdrege.
It was another big night for Garret Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Holdrege's points. Wyatt Pfeifer was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Valentine lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dominic Beebout, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Cronin, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Valentine struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Holdrege pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Holdrege's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Valentine, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holdrege won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ainsworth at 2:45 p.m. on January 6th. Ainsworth is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.6 points per game. Valentine won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Minden at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. Minden has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
