Baseball Recap: Lawrence Central's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lawrence Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Warren Central Warriors. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Warriors on Tuesday, they had to take a 18-5 loss.

Paul Carnes spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Lawrence Central let Jaxson Owens and Solomon Rashid run wild. Owens went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Rashid earned two runs and three stolen bases. Rashid has become a key player for Lawrence Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-14 otherwise.
