Soccer Game Preview: Wauseon vs. Maumee

The Wauseon Indians will head out to face off against the Maumee Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wauseon's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wauseon fell victim to Bryan and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Golden Bears, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Wauseon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while Bryan are ranked 123rd).

Meanwhile, Maumee kept a clean sheet against Otsego on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 2-0. That's two games straight that Maumee have won by exactly two goals.

Miriam Findling was the driving force of Maumee's attack as she scored both of Maumee's goals, bringing her season total up to three goals.

Maumee's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2-2 and their overall record up to 3-7-3. As for Wauseon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Wauseon couldn't quite get it done against Maumee when the teams last played back in September of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
