Softball Recap: Sacred Heart Academy Comes Up Short

Sacred Heart Academy fell victim to Mercy and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 7-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Mercy this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 back in April.

Sacred Heart Academy dropped their record down to 3-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Mercy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart Academy will head out to face off against Shelton at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mercy, they will face off against Hillhouse at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Academics have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
