Football Recap: Citrus Takes a Loss

Citrus fell victim to Springstead and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 26-0. The Hurricanes have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Springstead can attribute much of their success to J'Ziyah Munford, who rushed for 37 yards and one score, and also threw for 62 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Munford racked up 119.2 passer rating, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Brooke Smith was another key player, picking up 40 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Citrus' loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Springstead, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Citrus wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 20-13 defeat against Lecanto on the 14th. As for Springstead, they have also already played their next game, a 27-6 win against Cypress Creek on the 14th.
