Softball Recap: Edcouch-Elsa Find Success

Edcouch-Elsa posted their closest victory since February 18th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Rivera Raiders 8-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in February.

Mila Pedraza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Christa Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Haylie Camacho was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Edcouch-Elsa's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Rivera, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Looking ahead, Edcouch-Elsa will face off against Pace at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edcouch-Elsa is facing Pace at the right time seeing as Pace is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Rivera, they will take on Lopez at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lopez will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Rivera surely won't give up without a fight.
