Softball Recap: Northside's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Northside had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They beat the Gordo Green Wave by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-1. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Northside got a great performance from Avery Patton as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Patton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brayden Billings, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last 14 contests. Mattie Case was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Northside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 16 consecutive matchups.

Northside's win bumped their record up to 21-11-1. As for Gordo, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside will square off against Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Gordo, they will challenge Sulligent at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
