Baseball Recap: Union Parish Comes Up Short

Union Parish was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Downsville Demons, falling 14-8. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Farmers of the 21-15 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Jose Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Union Parish's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Terrance Wallace, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Union Parish's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Downsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Parish will welcome D'Arbonne Woods at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. D'Arbonne Woods' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Union Parish's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Downsville, they will be playing at home against Choudrant at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Aggies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
