Basketball Recap: Jacorey Head's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Benbrook over Perrin-Whitt

After flying high against Howe last Thursday, Benbrook came back down to earth. The Benbrook Bobcats took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Perrin-Whitt Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 722nd, while the Pirates are ranked 293rd).

Benbrook lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jacorey Head, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Head a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Barton, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Benbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Perrin-Whitt, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Benbrook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-52 loss against Whitesboro on the 28th. As for Perrin-Whitt, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-45 defeat against Leonard on the 28th.
