Baseball Recap: Bonita's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Bonita blew Claremont out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Claremont got their revenge. Bonita fell just short of Claremont by a score of 11-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bearcats, who until this game were averaging 3.42 runs allowed.

Bonita got a good showing from Sammy Duenas, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. The dominant performance also gave Duenas a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Andrew Sanchez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Judah Reeve, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Even though they lost, Bonita was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The defeat snapped Bonita's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-5 record. As for Claremont, the win got them back to even at 5-5-1.

While Bonita had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
