Softball Recap: Van Wert Victorious

It was a proper cat-fight when Van Wert faced off against Paulding on Monday. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 9-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

The team relied heavily on Isabella Wise, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Layla Sudduth was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Van Wert lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Van Wert now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Paulding, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-5.

Van Wert and Paulding should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Cougars (ranked 289th) will meet Ottawa-Glandorf (ranked 624th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Paulding will face off against Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (207 vs. 458).
