Basketball Game Preview: Monterey Trail Mustangs vs. Edison Vikings

The Monterey Trail Mustangs will square off against the Edison Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Monterey Trail knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Edison likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Monterey Trail earned a 62-55 victory over Franklin. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Edison was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Saturday as they fell 66-62 to Kennedy.

Monterey Trail pushed their record up to 23-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points over those games. As for Edison, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-11.

Monterey Trail strolled past Edison in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 72-58. Does Monterey Trail have another victory up their sleeve, or will Edison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
