Basketball Recap: Zeigler-Royalton Beats Dongola for Their Third Straight Win

Zeigler-Royalton had won two straight games and River Freeman did his part to make it three on Friday. The Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Dongola Demons 58-56 thanks in part to Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Zeigler-Royalton's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Gaddis, who posted eight points along with six assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Zeigler-Royalton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Dongola, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Zeigler-Royalton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Galatia at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Galatia knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Zeigler-Royalton likes a good challenge. As for Dongola, they will be playing at home against Agape Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
