Tioga (Tioga Center, N.Y.) jumped out to an early lead against Notre Dame (Elmira, N.Y.) and never looked back on the way to a 48-6 victory on Saturday.
The Tigers put up eight points in the opening frame. Tioga scored on a
Jesse Manuel touchdown run.
THS was up 28-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Manuel touchdown run in the first quarter.
The Tioga Center school expanded its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. The Tigers scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Brad Jump.
Tioga's most effective player was Manuel. He ran for three touchdowns and kicked two extra points.
The Crusaders' lone touchdown came on a 35-yard pass in the fourth quarter.
Notre Dame came in surrendering 7.4 points per game this season. THS had given up an average of 6.6 points prior to the contest.
The loss comes after Notre Dame defeated Odessa-Montour 30-0 last week. With the win the Tigers extended their winning streak to three games. The loss snapped ND's 3-game winning streak.
Tioga (5-1) will play a Section 4 D Division X game against Spencer-Van Etten next week, while Notre Dame (4-2) will take on Candor also in a Section 4 D Division X game.
