Softball Game Preview: Canal Winchester Indians vs. Pickerington Central Tigers

Canal Winchester is 0-3 against Pickerington Central since May of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Indians will challenge the Tigers at 5:15 p.m. Canal Winchester has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Canal Winchester came up short against Teays Valley on Wednesday, falling 19-5. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Canal Winchester saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendal Mccrea, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Pickerington Central took on Newark on Wednesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 16-4 victory. Considering the Tigers have won five games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Pickerington Central got a massive performance out of Jenna Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tisha Thompson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Pickerington Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Pickerington Central has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Canal Winchester, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Canal Winchester suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Pickerington Central when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
