Softball Recap: West Craven Eagles vs. Ayden - Grifton Chargers

West Craven was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Ayden - Grifton Chargers, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Wednesday.

Angelina Smith and Alyssa McCoy stepped up to the plate in a big way. Smith scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while McCoy went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Morgan Jarman was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

West Craven's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Ayden - Grifton, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Craven will welcome Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Craven has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Ayden - Grifton, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Farmville Central at 7:00 p.m.
