Basketball Recap: Christ Covenant Takes a Loss

Christ Covenant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-33 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sylva Bay Academy Saints. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against Christ Covenant this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 38-31 last Friday.

Sylva Bay Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Boyd, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points and five boards. Boyd is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Timothy Moss, who posted ten points.

Christ Covenant's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Sylva Bay Academy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-5.

Christ Covenant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lamar Christian at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
