Football Recap: Santa Fe Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Santa Fe had lost five straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-5 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Whittier Cardinals as they made off with a 34-12 win. The Chiefs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Cole Castaneda threw for 151 yards and a pair of TDs. Xander Arias was his top target, picking up 76 receiving yards. On the ground, Luke Hitch rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns.

As for Whittier, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. Having soared to a lofty 38 points in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

Although Whittier took the loss, they still got scores from Hugh Thomas and Arturo Pena.

Looking ahead, Santa Fe will take on La Serna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Whittier, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on El Rancho at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
