Volleyball Game Preview: Murphysboro Red Devils vs. Madison Trojans

The Murphysboro Red Devils will take on the Madison Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Murphysboro didn't have quite enough to beat Nashville and fell 2-1. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost nine in a row.

Murphysboro started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-16, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Madison came up short against Granite City on Monday and fell 2-0.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-14.

Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Murphysboro, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12.

Murphysboro beat Madison 2-0 in their previous matchup back in August of 2024. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
