Softball Recap: Vinal RVT Takes a Loss

Vinal RVT extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-8. They came up short against the Windham RVT Mighty Tigers, falling 16-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mighty Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-9 back in April.

Nicki Mierzejewski made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Fullerton, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for Windham RVT, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Windham RVT, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Windham RVT's side, they let Adrianna Vazquez-Vargas and Taya Hunting run wild. Vazquez-Vargas got on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases, while Hunting went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those four hits gave Hunting a new career-high. Lilly Howlett-Reynolds was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Coming up, Vinal RVT will face off against Academy of International Studies at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Windham RVT, they will host Windham at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
