Softball Game Preview: Assumption Royals vs. Auburndale Apaches

Assumption is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will head out to challenge the Auburndale Apaches at 4:45 p.m. Assumption's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Auburndale's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Saturday, Assumption beat Laconia 6-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Auburndale). They never let Phillips get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Friday. The Apaches not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 22, 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Auburndale and bumps their season record up to 3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Assumption, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Assumption couldn't quite get it done against Auburndale in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Royals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
