Basketball Recap: Alcester-Hudson Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Alcester-Hudson can now relate to. They fell 54-45 to the Irene/Wakonda Eagles on Monday. The Cubs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 49-40.

Madison Orr was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards for Irene/Wakonda. The dominant performance also gave Orr a new career-high in steals (four). Ava George was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Alcester-Hudson dropped their record down to 5-16 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Irene/Wakonda, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15.

Alcester-Hudson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Irene/Wakonda, they have already played their next contest, a 55-24 defeat against Centerville on the 25th.
