Softball Recap: Centennial Falls Short Against Ranked Green Valley

Centennial faced Green Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Centennial fell just short of Green Valley by a score of 4-3. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Leeah Ibarra made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Campbell Cole, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Centennial hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive contests.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Green Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Centennial will challenge Coronado at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Coronado will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Centennial surely won't give up without a fight. As for Green Valley, they will take on Basic at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Basic will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
