Baseball Recap: Garfield Comes Up Short

Garfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Saddle Brook on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 6-5. If the Boilermakers were looking for revenge after losing 5-1 to the Falcons when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Javier Navas was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Devon Paisley, who went 2-for-6 with one stolen base and one run.

Garfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Saddle Brook, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Garfield will take on Bergen Charter at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Saddle Brook, they will head out to face off against Waldwick at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
