For the first time this season, East River will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will look to defend their home field against the Winter Springs Bears at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Winter Springs will be up against a hot East River squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went East River's way against Archbishop Chapelle on Wednesday as East River made off with a 12-1 win. East River's victory was all the more impressive since the Chipmunks were averaging only four runs allowed on the season.

Katherine Sanchez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Tru Mastro was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Talisa Soto was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
East River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Winter Springs got the win against Lake Howell on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-1. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Silverhawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Like East River, Winter Springs also got a great game from a two-way player: Tiffany Seemann. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Seemann has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other pitching news, Madison Barahona looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Winter Springs let Adison Pierce and Lauren Daugherty run wild. Pierce went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Daugherty scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Pierce a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Alondra Maldonado, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
East River pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Winter Springs, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Both East River and Winter Springs just can't seem to miss. East River has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Winter Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
