Softball Game Preview: St. Mary Academy-Bay View Bengals vs. Cranston West Falcons

The St. Mary Academy-Bay View Bengals will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Cranston West Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

St. Mary Academy-Bay View fell victim to La Salle Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Rams, falling 10-0. The loss continues a trend for the Bengals in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Cranston West was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over Westerly. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

The team relied heavily on Mia Baffoni, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Santomassimo, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Cranston West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westerly only posted a batting average of .231.

St. Mary Academy-Bay View now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Cranston West, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

St. Mary Academy-Bay View came out on top in a nail-biter against Cranston West in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Bengals repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
