Softball Recap: Christopher Cougars vs. Prospect Panthers
Christopher scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Prospect Panthers as the Christopher Cougars made off with a 16-3 victory. Considering Christopher has won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Christopher got a great performance from Chanel Lucio as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.
At the plate, Brianna Diaz Cruz was a standout: she scored three runs while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelynn Corona, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
On Prospect's side, Tivoli Corpuz was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Corpuz is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last four games she's played.
The win (which was Christopher's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-9. As for Prospect, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10-1.
Christopher will be playing at home against Piedmont Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Piedmont Hills' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Christopher's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
