Football Game Preview: Pine Knights vs. Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars

The Pine Knights will head out to square off against the Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pine hasn't scored more than six points for eight games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Pine's offense might be in the hot seat on Wednesday considering what happened against Lincoln Park Academy on Friday. They took a 15-0 bruising from the Greyhounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Somerset Academy - Canyons). They took their match on Monday with ease, bagging a 52-0 victory over Lake Worth. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

A big part of Somerset Academy - Canyons' win came down to the chemistry between Ava Wotipka and her top target Jayda Simmons. Wotipka threw for 183 yards and five TDs while completing 90.5% of her passes while Simmons gained 169 total yards and two touchdowns. That's the most passing touchdowns Wotipka has posted since back in April of 2024. Delanie Doty was in the mix too, providing Somerset Academy - Canyons with two scores.

Somerset Academy - Canyons didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Brooke Doty led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself.

Somerset Academy - Canyons' victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Pine, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
