Basketball Recap: Murphy Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Murphy had won four straight home games and Cordairus Dixon did his part to make it five on Tuesday. The Murphy Panthers took down the Mobile Christian Leopards 60-46 thanks in part to Dixon, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played.

Derrick Neal was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds. Those seven points gave him a new career-high.

Mobile Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Hakeem Winston, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds, and Rico Prince, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Delmore, who posted five points and eight boards.

Murphy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.9 points per game. As for Mobile Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Murphy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-46 defeat against Vigor on the 17th. As for Mobile Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-52 loss against Faith Academy on the 13th.
