Basketball Recap: Josiah Martin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead School of the Ozarks over New Covenant Academy

School of the Ozarks fought the good fight in their overtime game against New Covenant Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 73-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Covenant Academy Warriors. The Patriots just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

School of the Ozarks lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Josiah Martin, who posted 21 points and seven boards. The matchup was Martin's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Scott Carswell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, School of the Ozarks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

School of the Ozarks' defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for New Covenant Academy, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. School of the Ozarks will challenge Sheldon at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Covenant Academy, they will square off against Niangua at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
