Softball Game Preview: Deering Rams vs. Scarborough Red Storm

Deering is 0-10 against Scarborough since May of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Rams will look to defend their home field against the Red Storm at 5:00 p.m. Deering has given up an average of 16.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Deering is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Thornton Academy, falling 18-7.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Scarborough and South Portland meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Red Storm fell 7-2 to the Red Riots. That's two games in a row now that the Red Storm have lost by exactly five runs.

Scarborough dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Deering, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Deering might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Scarborough in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
