Football Recap: Del Sol Comes Up Short

Del Sol was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They took a blow against the Palo Verde Panthers, falling 35-0. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada football rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Panthers are ranked first).

A big part of Palo Verde's win came down to the chemistry between Yolana Huff and her top target Alexis Manzo. Huff threw for 246 yards and five touchdowns while completing 80.8% of her passes while Manzo picked up 79 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance gave Huff a new career-high in passing yards.

Del Sol's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Palo Verde, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

Del Sol is taking a road trip to square off against Green Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Palo Verde, they will challenge Desert Oasis at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Palo Verde has won eight straight at home dating back to last season, while Desert Oasis won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
