Softball Game Preview: Northside Vikings vs. Lord Botetourt Cavaliers

Northside is 2-8 against Lord Botetourt since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. Northside has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Friday just wasn't the day for Northside's offense. They came up short against Staunton River on Friday, falling 11-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered against the Golden Eagles since May 20, 2022.

Lord Botetourt never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Fleming on Thursday. They never let the Colonels get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Lord Botetourt now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Northside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Northside might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Lord Botetourt when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
