Baseball Recap: Penns Manor Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Penns Manor, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Portage Mustangs on Thursday. The Comets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Connor James made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Cooper, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Justin Vojtek was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Penns Manor's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Portage, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Penns Manor will square off against Blacklick Valley at 4:15 p.m. on the 4th. As for Portage, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-5 defeat against Northern Cambria on the 1st.
