Basketball Game Preview: New Standard Academy Spartans vs. International Academy Phoenix

The New Standard Academy Spartans will square off against the International Academy Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with New Standard Academy sitting on four straight victories and International Academy on seven.

New Standard Academy is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since January 19, 2024 on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Bendle 72-69.

Meanwhile, International Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Bentley on Wednesday, taking the game 49-42. Given the Phoenix's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th in Michigan, while the Bulldogs are ranked 455th in Michigan), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Standard Academy pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points over those games. As for International Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 20-3.

New Standard Academy came up short against International Academy in their previous matchup on February 7th, falling 68-63. Can New Standard Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
