Football Recap: Foster Takes a Loss

After flying high against George Ranch last Saturday, Foster came back down to earth. The Falcons took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alief Elsik Rams on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (36), the Falcons still had to take the loss.

Alief Elsik's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaden Mendenhall, who threw for 340 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 131 yards and one TD while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. That's the most passing touchdowns Mendenhall has posted since back in October of 2024. Horatio Washington was in the mix as well, providing Alief Elsik with four scores.

Foster's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Alief Elsik, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Foster will take on rival Fulshear at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Alief Elsik is set to square off against their familiar foe Strake Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 970 yards in their previous games.
