Baseball Game Preview: LKY Saints vs. Southern Trojans

The LKY Saints will head out to challenge the Southern Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. LKY is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

LKY came out on top against Kentucky Country Day on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Saints won by a run and slipped past the Bearcats 10-9. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.

The team relied heavily on Titus Combs, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of LKY's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-11 when he doesn't). Nate Armani also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: LKY kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Southern was able to grind out a solid victory over East Jessamine on Saturday, taking the game 5-1.

Alex Coba looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Marlon Rojas was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

LKY's record is now 14-11. As for Southern, their record now sits at 17-11.

LKY came out on top in a nail-biter against Southern when the teams last played on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
