Basketball Game Preview: DSST: College View Wolves vs. Skyview Wolverines

The DSST: College View Wolves will face off against the Skyview Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (DSST: College View has seven straight wins, Skyview has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, DSST: College View made off with a 71-70 victory over Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Lions are ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

DSST: College View's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Isaias Tomita, who dropped a triple-double on 24 points, 12 assists, and 13 steals, and Joshua Sosa, who went 7 for 11 en route to 18 points and eight steals. Tomita is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least seven every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro Sandoval, who posted 11 points and three steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: DSST: College View was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists.they racked up 13 more assists than Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy's almost as impressive total of 12

Meanwhile, Skyview was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 38-32 to The Pinnacle.

DSST: College View pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Skyview, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
