Baseball Game Preview: Apple Valley Sun Devils vs. Roosevelt Mustangs

Apple Valley hasn't had much luck against Roosevelt recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Sun Devils will square off against the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. Apple Valley will be strutting in after a win while Roosevelt will be coming in after a defeat.

Apple Valley gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Oak Hills.

Andrew Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Apple Valley let Colton Grimm and Mikey Fonville run wild. Grimm went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Fonville went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Fonville has posted since back in March. Tyler Redona also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Roosevelt was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell 5-2 to King.

The win got Apple Valley back to even at 13-13. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 10-17.

Apple Valley came up short against Roosevelt when the teams last played back in February of 2025, falling 7-3. Can the Sun Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
